Kitty Hawk is a peer tutoring program cadets who need help with their school work. Kitty Hawk hosts an academic opportunity for all students every Tuesday after school.
The program’s objective is to help students improve their grades by offering students
officers that assist cadets in their work. The Kitty Hawk program at UMA seeks to
improve individual grades and to support UMA’s overall academic objectives.
During this new school year there have been changes made to the program. Lt. Colonel Tisher is the new advisor of the program, with new Cadet Kitty Hawk Commander Quin Ekberg leading the program this year. Cadet Bryant Stawisuck serves as the Deputy Commander.
Cadet Ekberg expressed enthusiasm about leading the program this year. “It is a great
honor being able to have the opportunity to be the commander of such a great program
this year! We have many fantastic goals, and I am excited to help improve the academic
excellence at UMA by helping my peers and sharing the knowledge I’ve gained while at
the school.”
The program has a team of officers dedicated to specific subjects. Cadet Lloyd Andersen is the CTE Officer, Cadet Coady Maples tutors for English, Cadet Zeke Adame tutors in Math, Cadet Vincent Butler tutors in Science, and Cadet Lucas Innocenzi tutors for History. They are available to assist their fellow cadets, offering support and assistance to students who need help in those specific subjects.
Cadet Stawisuck, the Deputy Commander, shared his reasons for joining the program. “I want to help cadets succeed academically.” He says students should attend Kitty
Hawk “so that UMA as a whole can achieve academic goals, and so that cadets can be
their best selves.”
Cadet Stawisuck highlights the importance of Kitty Hawk. “Without a focus on helping cadets with their academics, there is no point in going to school. Kitty Hawk helps students learn face-to-face with their peers.”
Cadets at UMA should attend the Kitty Hawk program for the opportunity to improve
their grades and succeed in school. UMA offers this program to all students for free,
which makes Kitty Hawk a unique opportunity for students attending the school. The
Kitty Hawk program is one of many things that makes UMA a unique school.
