A common misconception is that high school students don’t care about politics, however, this
isn’t entirely true. However a common theme among opinions isn’t endorsing politics, or
politicians in general, but criticism of all the smaller parts of politics. Cadet Miles Granger, who criticizes politicians says, “Politicians suck. They lie all the time”.
Conversely, Cadet Amyrah Blake does not like how politics affect the way others behave about them. “I hate politics. People get too heated over them.”
Cadet Kolby Atkinson criticizes how the people around him are involved in politics. He doesn’t criticize the fact that they are involved in politics, just the way they are involved. “Fella’s vote for whoever is in the two main parties, not who they want to vote for.”
The stereotype that teenagers don’t care about politics might be partially true.
Benjamin Carter, whose response to being asked about his opinion on the election said, “I hope Kanye wins.”
Most students who can’t vote in the upcoming election have strong opinions over politics in
general, but those who are able to vote in the upcoming election have criticisms over the more intricate details of the election such as the presidential debate between Former President Trump and current Vice President Kamala Harris. English teacher, Mrs. Leslie Mcneely said, “Voters want to hear what their stance is and not just watch the candidates mudsling, but it’s the news, it’s entertainment for the masses.”
