Journalism is a very fun class. Some cadets love it because it helps them with their writing. Other cadets like it because of the way the articles are written.
Cadet Remington Frost states, “ I love journalism. I love being able to write stories about people, events, and so much more. The people and instructor of the class make it very fun to be there. It is also helping me better my craft at writing and understanding how articles are written.”
Most of the cadets that take journalism have made it their thing, their way to explore and develop their writing talents. Cadet Alexus Workman mentions how it has changed her high school experience. “Journalism has been a program that has changed my high school life and future college decisions. It has given me a great opportunity to decide what career path I want to pursue. This is my third (technically fourth) year in Journalism and my second year as the Editor-in-Chief. Journalism is what is meant for me!”
Cadet Alexandra Skibiel explains, “ I like that I get to socialize with people when I’m interviewing; it gives me an excuse to talk to people I normally wouldn’t.”
According to Cadet Amaya Brown, journalism is a good class to add to your education and a way to develop your skills in writing. “Journalism is honestly an amazing experience in high school. You can further your education and your writing skills in different topics. The way
Mr. Dockter teaches is amazing and gets you prepared to get ready for life.”
Though cadets love this class because it lets them do their favorite thing, writing, it takes a lot of effort to write a good article and the process is very time-consuming, according to Cadet Severin Glenn. “What I like about Journalism is the fact that it lets me write, which is something that I have always been passionate about. (Writing is an old hobby of mine).
Mr.Dockter tries his best with this class and tries to make everyone successful in their work.
“One of the first things cadets learn in journalism is the importance of deadlines and the urgency of getting accurate information the first time. These are keys to being successful in journalism.”
