Mr. King Tabajanda, a math teacher at Utah Military Academy, has been making a big impact on cadets with his unique way of teaching. Known for his patience and humor, he has created a classroom where math is not only understandable but also enjoyable.
Before teaching at UMA, Mr. Tabajanda taught middle school math in Florida. There, he built a reputation for being a positive and encouraging teacher who made math less stressful for students. He brought those same qualities with him to Utah, where cadets say his class is both fun and challenging at the same time.
“He makes math easier to understand,” One cadet said. “He explains things step by step so we don’t get lost, but he also pushes us to keep working hard.” His great teaching skills continue to motivate and better teach them math as well as skills revolving around it. He not only teaches math but also helps students learn life lessons and skills they will need to learn to better their future.
Cadets also appreciate that Mr. Tabajanda’s sense of humor makes class different from other math classes. He’s described as smart and funny, and that mix helps keep everyone engaged. Even when the work is tough, students say they feel motivated to figure it out.
What stands out the most is how his teaching goes beyond just numbers. Many cadets say he teaches them about responsibility, confidence, and never giving up when things get hard. His class is about math, but it’s also about building character.
From extremely hot Florida to extremely dry Utah, Mr. Tabajanda has shown that a great teacher can change how students feel about a subject and even about themselves. His dedication, intelligence, and humor will continue to make a lasting difference in the lives of cadets at Utah Military Academy.
