For the entirety of this school year, and a bit of the last one, Cadet Colonel Innocenzi has been our Wing Commander. But many of our cadets may not even know him! Even though out of the hundreds of cadets, he’s arguably one of the most important. So, let’s see what he does in school, out of school, and why he makes us stand at attention all the time during formation.
This is Innocenzi’s 6th year at UMA, which, on top of all the activities, is probably why he’s the Wing Commander. Formation has recently been a bit troublesome. Innocenzi personally said cadets have been doing “pretty rough.” However, he’s still Wing Commander for another term, and he seems more optimistic than most would in his position. His plan is to do his best to guide the current flight leadership through the term, and prepare them for any future leadership roles. And what about how he’s doing during formation? Well he says, “Oh I think I’m doing fantastic!” However, he does admit he’s been “illiterate” a few times during formation.
The staff seem to be enjoying their Wing Commander. Cadet Captain Jessica Taylor said, “He’s more active, involved, and it feels like he cares more.” This diligence has even shown through onto staff class, Taylor remarked that “He’s more active, and tries to make it more efficient.” This active involvement shows that Innocenzi is following through with trying to guide the leadership through the semester.
But he’s more than just our Wing Commander. He’s part of Armed Drill, Honor Guard, staff, and he even tutors cadets in Kitty Hawk. He participates in all of these activities, everyone probably knew about these already, even if it’s just because he advertises them. But Innocenzi is more than just UMA, even he has a life outside the school. He’s a big fan of video games, and he’s even in a swim team on top of all the in-school activities he does. His favorite teacher is Major Curtis because, as Innocenzi has said, “I love him.” Which of course, don’t we all? The best thing to learn about him was his favorite band, All Time Low. He has a great taste in music.
Innocenzi’s lived in Utah since he was 4 months old, and now he’s 17. So he of course can’t stay forever, even super seniors have to leave eventually after all. So, just where is he going? Well, he’s been saving money as well as reading the scriptures, so that he can go on his mission after he graduates. Both because he’s LDS, and because he’s received a personal revelation. Afterwards, he’s planning on getting into the Air Force Academy. Of course, all that’s months off, so until the semester ends, remember, that’s your Wing Commander!
